Our Track Record & Impact

Since 2005, BushProof has impacted the lives of roughly 1.5 million individual people through a variety of products and services. Each of these products has a different useful life. For instance, a village borehole with hand pump may last 8 years, whereas a simple family handwashing device might wear out in just 12 months. Recalculated to a single person served for one year with a safe water or sanitation intervention, our accomplishment can also be expressed as 4.4 million people impacted.

Our ability to deliver quality and innovation has been internationally recognized by a growing number of international clients and partner organizations. In 2005, we were especially honored to receive the prestigious World Bank global Development Marketplace award. Since then we have helped our clients achieve the following outputs (last update – March 2017):


Water Supply

    • 1310 cost-effective manual drilled or jetted wells completed
    • 245 machine drilled wells completed
    • 1670 hand pumps manufactured and installed throughout Madagascar
    • 11 gravity-fed distribution systems completed for small to medium sized communities
    • 21 pumping (solar) distribution systems completed for small to medium sized communities (0.2 – 4 kW)
    • 8 pumping (grid) distribution systems completed for small to medium sized communities



      • 7 tailor-made bio-sand filter trainings in Madagascar, Kenya, Afghanistan and Somaliland for NGOs and other clients
    • 2 trainings on water quality testing and analysis
    • 30 trainings on water & sanitation, including trainings on emergency WASH, in Madagascar, South-Sudan and Dubaï
    • 1 training on manual drilling



      • Water resource inventory for large commercial projects
    • Water supply system conception for a number of NGO and commercial clients
    • Evaluation of a large EU-funded emergency response project
    • Emergency Response: technical support to relief interventions in Sudan (Darfur), Madagascar (cyclone), South-Sudan (civil war), Uganda (civil war), Sri Lanka (Tsunami) and Pakistan (earthquake)
    • Conceptualisation of a participatory training manual for a multinational water company
    • Design, supervision and analysis of a baseline survey for drought mitigation project
    • Hydrogeological surveys for various clients in Madagascar
